I found this trip to be very helpful in giving me an idea of what our kitchen will be like. It was fun to do the scavenger hunt and I liked their kitchen, though I'm sure I will like ours more.
Today we went to W.C Miller's culinary class. We got to sit in and hangout with the level 1-3 culinary students. I have 2 friends Johanna and Rachael who are both in level 2 culinary. Chef got us into groups and sent us out to find kitchen utensils and equipment, of course I was with my bestie Rachael and we got to learn different names and equipment, then later we went back to be tested if we got the right equipment or not. My group got perfect. After that I got to stay for a bit and hangout with my friends during lunch. The kitchen is very big and confusing to get through and everything is everywhere. I hope NPC's kitchen will be a lot neater.
Hello! Today we visited the W.C Miller School in Altona to see there culinary arts program. To me since I've seen many professional kitchens that they all look the same after a while. My favorite utensil that I saw there was the giant whisk. I hope that we get to have one or use one like that. I saw and heard names of utensils I've never heard or seen of until today! It was a really fun experience even though we weren't in our home school which is kind of weird. I would really enjoy to see them at work and I love how instead of saying the teachers' names they just said chef. It sounded like a real kitchen. There kitchen was very organized and very spaced out. I can't wait till we get to see our kitchen and actually work in it. My tour person was Amanda and she was really good. She answered a lot of my questions, that was awesome. I can't wait till they come to see our culinary program and think it's cool as theirs. ~Heather Penner
today we got to sit in on the W.C Miller's culinary class and chef split us into groups and got us to go on a scavenger hunt in the kitchen to find different utensils to give us a better understanding of how our kitchen may be, we also talked about how when chef asks us to get something we have to be on it right away and know exactly where things are at all times so we don't slow production down. After seeing there kitchen I realized how big our kitchen is actually going to be and how difficult it will be in the start to try to remember where everything is but I know that after some time we wont even have to worry about that. (:
Hey! Today we went to W.C Miller school in Altona to see their culinary arts cooking program. For me I have cooked at home very often but for some of the cooking utensils I never used the real name. From my experience at W.C Miller I know that it will help me a lot to know the real names for our culinary arts class. I really liked how their kitchen looked, it was organized and clean and nice and big, but I think ours will be way better. I can hardly wait to work in our kitchen, even though I know that our kitchen will be a lot bigger then theirs, but for me it will be difficult at first to remember where everything will be and then to remember the funky names. I found the scavenger hunt really fun especially when our tour guide didn't know where some of the stuff was so they asked their teacher which they called chef. :)
It felt very weird being back at my old high school, but the class got a general idea what our kitchen will have for equipment. Our kitchen will have more and newer equipment and we can hardly wait to get in it! They did a scavenger hunt to identify the different utensils that they will be using in class. It was very generous of the Chef to allow us to "stop in" and see there facility. Thanks Chef Kip!
