Hello! Today we visited the co-op in Morden. We got to see the deli and the bakery. Of course the bakery was my favorite part of our trip. In the deli we saw them deep frying chicken and potato wedges. Another lady was making wraps and salads. In the bakery the ladies come in super early some even at 3 in the morning but others at 5. They sell lots of bread. I loved see the bread cutting machine it can seriously entertain you for a long time. They make lots of doughnuts which of course we all took samples of. Of course we had to wear hairnets which was the downer. I hate wearing them. We got to see many different machines in action today. It was pretty neat. The bakery's freezer is huge you can park like a car in there. I had a great time there. ~Heather Penner
So today I thought we were going to finish washing all the dishes but instead we headed to Morden CO-OP for a tour of their bakery and deli. We saw how they breaded and deep fried the chicken and where everything is held. They were very friendly there and talked to us and asked us about our kitchen. We saw the bakery and a lady was making raisin tea bisquits because all of their baking is normally done very very early in the morning so theres fresh bread in the morning to buy. We even got to eat some doughnut holes and we learned about this lady's experience with the culinary school in Winnipeg and how she worked in Stella's bakery and now in the bakery at Co-op. Ive always wanted to work in the Co-op bakery and still would like to. I will keep trying.
Today we went to Co-op deli and bakery in Morden and got to look around in there and see how they operate. In the deli we saw a lady slicing meat for wraps and salads. In the bakery we watched the baker cut cookies and she showed us around a bit. we looked at the big oven and watched a different lady slice the bread loaves. that's basically all we did today but it was fun all the same. :)
today we went to the co-op deli and bakery in morden and toured around there and we got to see how they breaded and deep fried all there chicken, in the bakery we didn't get to see them do much cause they start really early in the morning and so by the time we had gotten there they didn't have much to do, but the people who worked there were really nice and asked us about our kitchen and what route we wanted to take in the culinary field. over all it was a short but fun trip
Hey everyone! Today our Culinary Arts class went to Co-Op Deli & Bakery in Morden. When we got there we had to put on hairnets. We got to see how they cut the meat for customers and how they bake/roast their chickens, we got to see everything so no secrets are kept from us lol, we also got to see a chicken breading machine it was quiet cool. When we were done seeing everything in the deli , we went to their bakery which I loved because I love baking and everything. They showed us how they have a special machine that cuts their loafs of bread for them and bags them, its awesome. Oh they also have a hot dog and burger machine which slices the hot dog buns and burger buns and all the other kinds of bread buns they have their. O and one of the workers in the bakery get to work at 2-3am to go work its crazy and the other bakery workers start working at 5am that's very early for me, I think we should be thank them for everything even if they make a mistake sometimes in the bread or something because we are not perfect we can just try are best and that's it, so lets thank the bakers and everyone around us for everything that they do for all of us.
After a full day of unpacking our supplies for the kitchen yesterday, we took a break today and toured the Morden Co-op Deli and Bakery. This is the first store setting that had both shops in operation for the students to observe what the production line process would be like in our kitchen. In the Deli or Bakery you not only produced products from scratch, you have to stop what you were doing and provide customer service as well. Again, this was a great opportunity for the students to see how: time sensitivity, organization, communication, following instructions, with safety and sanitation guidelines, are very important while serving customers. The students will be able to multi-task and work quickly and safely while not only providing the best quality product, but the best quality customer service after completing this culinary program. I want to thank Cam Buhler and all of the management and staff for taking the time to show our students what they do in servicing our communities.
